Korea District Records Zero Child Marriage Cases in Two Years

Public Objections Invited Before Declaration of “Child Marriage-Free” Panchayats and Urban Bodies

Korea, October 14, 2025 — In a significant social achievement, Korea district has reported no cases of child marriage over the past two years, according to information released by the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD). Following departmental guidelines, the district administration has proposed to officially declare all its Gram Panchayats and urban local bodies as Child Marriage-Free.

As per details shared by the District Programme Officer, Women and Child Development Department, Korea, none of the 162 Gram Panchayats and three urban bodies in the district have reported any instance of child marriage during the last two years. Consequently, it has been proposed to issue official certificates recognizing these areas as Child Marriage-Free Zones.

Public Invited to Submit Claims or Objections

The department has invited claims and objections from the public before finalizing the declaration. If any individual or organization has knowledge of a child marriage case within the past two years, or wishes to raise an objection, they may submit a written representation along with supporting documents to the District Programme Officer, WCD Department, Collectorate Complex, Korea, within 15 days of this publication (by October 25, 2025) during office hours (10:00 AM to 5:30 PM).

Continuous Awareness Efforts

Under the directions of the District Collector, the WCD Department has been conducting continuous public awareness campaigns aimed at preventing child marriages. Meetings with community leaders have been organized to frame strategies and guidelines for complete eradication of the practice.

Officials credited the district’s remarkable record to the sustained awareness drives and coordinated community participation, emphasizing that no cases being reported for two consecutive years reflects growing social responsibility and collective commitment to ending child marriage in the region.
