Rajnandgaon also ranks first in the state in Ayushman Card and Ayushman Vay Vandna Card registration
Ayushman Card serves as a protective shield for economically weaker sections
Rajnandgaon / The year 2026 has emerged as a year of double achievement for Rajnandgaon district. The first major milestone has been achieved under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana through the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card. Against its fixed target, Rajnandgaon district has recorded an achievement of 100.20 percent, becoming the first district in the state to complete more than 100 percent registration under this scheme. Out of 25,038 eligible senior citizens aged 70 years and above, 25,088 beneficiaries have been successfully registered.
Under this scheme, eligible senior citizens are entitled to additional free treatment up to ₹5 lakh in both government and empaneled private hospitals. This initiative has ensured better, accessible and quality healthcare services for the elderly.
The second major achievement pertains to Ayushman Card registration under the same scheme. Against a target of 9,52,546, the district has registered 9,37,461 beneficiaries, achieving 98.42 percent coverage. With this performance, Rajnandgaon has once again secured first position in the state in Ayushman Card registration.
Strategy Behind the Achievement
Door-to-Door Outreach:
The Health Department conducted door-to-door visits across the district to register all eligible beneficiaries. This intensive campaign ensured that no eligible person was left out of the scheme.
Ownership-Based Working Approach:
From senior officers to grassroots-level staff, the entire Health Department worked with a strong sense of ownership, transcending departmental silos and individual roles to achieve the collective goal.
Ayushman Card: A Security Shield for Economically Weaker Families
Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the Ayushman Card provides cashless, paperless and free treatment up to ₹5 lakh per family per year in both public and private hospitals. This flagship health insurance initiative of the government ensures access to quality healthcare services for economically weaker sections of society.
