Rajnandgaon.With the objective of ensuring positive and active parental engagement on issues related to education and health during adolescence, a one-day workshop titled “Samvad Sanskar” was organized under the joint initiative of the District Administration Rajnandgaon, UNICEF, and Sarvhitam. The primary aim of the workshop was to sensitize service providers and government officials on positive parenting, adolescent wellbeing, and improving educational outcomes.The context setting of the programme was delivered by Mr. Chandan Kumar, State SBC Consultant, UNICEF, who highlighted the crucial role of family and community in the holistic development of adolescents.Addressing the participants on the theme “Positive Parenting and Empowered Youth,” District Collector Mr. Jitendra Yadav (IAS) stated that the programme would help strengthen parents’ understanding, the benefits of which would be visible in the coming years. He emphasized that effective communication skills play a vital role in shaping adolescents’ futures. On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer, Zila Panchayat, Ms. Suruchi Singh (IAS) described youth as a powerful force for social change.Following the session, District Collector Jitendra Yadav and CEO Zila Panchayat Suruchi Singh were felicitated with literature and mementos.During the technical session, Mr. Manish Singh, State Nodal Head, Alliance for Behaviour Change and Chairman, Sarvhitam, stressed the importance of understanding adolescence through four key dimensions—Rights, Duties, Participation, and Monitoring. He underlined that effective coordination among schools, families, and communities is essential to strengthen children’s learning processes.Interactive activities titled “Padhai ka Kona” and “Aaj Kya Sikha” were facilitated by UNICEF Consultant Mr. Chandan Kumar, during which participants shared their reflections and learning experiences.At the conclusion of the workshop, participants unanimously agreed on the need to organize such dialogue-based parenting programmes on a regular basis to support the overall development of adolescents.The programme was moderated by Ms. Divya Rajput, District Consultant, UNICEF, while all logistical arrangements were coordinated by Mr. Raghvendra Singh, State Coordinator, Sarvhitam. The workshop witnessed active participation from the Education Department, Women and Child Development Department, NSS, My Bharat, and Yuvoday volunteers.
