Jaisakarra Gets a New Landmark: Indru Kewat Nature Park Opens to Public

Raipur: The state’s Forest and Climate Change Minister Kedar Kashyap inaugurated the Indru Kewat Nature Park established in Village Jaisakarra, under Charama. MLA of Bhanupratappur, Smt. Savitri Mandavi, was also present on the occasion. The nature park has been constructed at a cost of ₹49.85 lakh in Jaisakarra village under the Charama Forest Range.

Addressing the gathering at the inauguration, Minister Kedar Kashyap said that the nature park has been beautifully developed and will be expanded further in the future. He emphasized that development should remain nature-friendly and excessive use of concrete should be avoided. He added that it is a matter of pride that Bastar is blessed with vast forest cover, and people should understand its importance, conserve it, and strengthen their economic condition through forest produce.

Indru Kewat Nature Park Constructed at Nearly ₹50 Lakh

It is noteworthy that the Indru Kewat Nature Park has been built at a cost of ₹49.85 lakh during the financial year 2024-25 under the Environment Forestry Fund, in compartment number 1474 of the Sirsida Beat under Charama Range. Spread across approximately two hectares of forest land, the park aims to promote environmental education, sensitivity toward wildlife, and the spirit of nature conservation. It intends to bring local residents, students, tourists, and researchers closer to nature so they can understand the importance of forests, vegetation, wildlife, and ecology.

Wide Variety of Fruit-Flowering Plants as Key Attraction

The nature park features an entrance gate, ticket counter, nature trails for tourists, lawn area, gardens, an open gym, a children’s play area, pagoda-style seating structures, a fountain, toilets, an overhead water tank for plant irrigation, and a bamboo system.
A total of 40 varieties of flowering plants, 50 species of tree plants, 20 species of medicinal plants, and 17 species of bamboo have been planted here.
The park will be managed by the Forest Management Committee, Jaisakarra.

Public Benefit and Environmental Protection – MLA Mandavi

Addressing the program, MLA Smt. Savitri Mandavi said that the inauguration of Indru Kewat Nature Park will greatly benefit the general public and promote environmental conservation. She emphasized that the protection of forests and wildlife is a collective responsibility.

Srinivas Rao, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Bhuneswar Nagaraj, Chairman, Charama Nagar Panchayat, Rajesh Chandele, Chief Conservator of Forests, Kanker, DFO Raunak Goyal, Alok Thakur, Tekeshwar Jain, Narendra Yadav, Nandkumar Ojha, Ravilal Nayak, Sarpanch, Jaisakarra, Narendra Banjara, SDM Charama, Jasvir Singh Maravi, Sub-Divisional Forest Officer, Satyendra Shukla, Tehsildar along with Janpad members and Forest Management Committee members were present. .
