Women-led livelihoods drive rural transformation under CM Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership
Jashpur | Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh is witnessing a strong push toward women’s economic empowerment. In this direction, the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ campaign in Jashpur district has emerged as a remarkable success, with over 18,000 women achieving financial independence and setting new benchmarks of self-reliance.
Blessed with natural beauty, Jashpur is now becoming a hub of women-led economic activity. Women across the district are actively engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry, food processing, handicrafts, and micro-enterprises, strengthening not only their households but also the rural economy.
Grassroots facilitators such as Krishi Sakhis and Pashu Sakhis are playing a crucial role in disseminating modern farming techniques and improved agricultural practices, thereby enhancing productivity and livelihoods. Currently, 12,808 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are active in the district, connecting over 1.37 lakh women, who are collectively advancing toward economic independence.
Ambitious Targets, Steady Progress
The state government has set a target of creating 30,877 ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in Jashpur between 2024 and 2027. So far, 18,218 women have already achieved this milestone, while continuous efforts are underway to bring the remaining women into this category in the coming years.
Strong Financial and Institutional Support
To strengthen women’s livelihoods, extensive support is being provided under the ‘Bihan’ scheme. This includes:
- ₹14 crore in Mudra loans
- ₹76 crore through bank linkages
- ₹13 crore as community investment funds
Additionally, around 70,000 women are being connected to income-generating activities such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and horticulture.
Skill Development and Income Growth
Nearly 8,500 potential ‘Lakhpati Didis’ have received training in various livelihood activities. Continuous monitoring is ensuring sustained income growth. Women are significantly increasing their earnings through dairy farming, goat rearing, poultry, and food processing enterprises.
Opening New Opportunities Through Innovation
To further promote innovation and technology adoption, the ‘Krishi Kranti Expo 2.0’ is being आयोजित from March 23 to 25, 2026, at the Agriculture College, Kunkuri. The event is expected to open new avenues for women by introducing them to modern agricultural practices and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Women at the Core of Development
Jashpur’s success story highlights a powerful truth: when women are empowered, families prosper, villages transform, and the entire state moves forward.
