Jashpur, Chhattisgarh – February 27, 2026 – A powerful Cyber Security Awareness and “Aaj Kya Sikha” (Parent Engagement) program was organized in Jashpur today, bringing together 80 dedicated volunteers committed to child protection, digital safety, and community development. The event was graced by Dr. Lal Umed Singh, DIG SSB; Abhishek Kumar, CEO Zila Panchayat Jashpur; Chetna Desai, Child Protection Officer, UNICEF; and Chandan Kumar, SBC Consultant, UNICEF.
The program began with Shalini energizing the 80 volunteers of Jashpur, motivating them to think beyond boundaries and take their work to a global platform. Abhishek Kumar inspired the gathering with the powerful words, “There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer.” He appreciated initiatives like JAY HO, child marriage prevention, and dropout awareness programs, encouraging volunteers to focus on holistic development, pay close attention to community activities and actively participate in exposure visits.
Strong Focus on Cyber Security and Digital Vigilance
Dr. Lal Umed Singh delivered an impactful session on cyber security, cautioning participants about fake websites that manipulate search rankings to appear genuine. He warned against opening suspicious APK files, falling victim to fake RTO e-challan scams, and responding to unknown video calls. He explained the concept of “digital arrest” scams and highlighted how fraudsters exploit social media competition among youth.
He also discussed the psychology behind women-centered online frauds that often begin with friendly chats and escalate into emotional manipulation. Addressing the misuse of AI-generated morphed photos, he emphasized preventive measures and urged youth to stay alert, avoid distractions, and practice responsible digital behavior.
UNICEF’s Click Safe & Cyber Yodha: Living Beyond the Virtual World

Chetna Desai introduced UNICEF’s Click Safe and Cyber Yodha initiatives, emphasizing the importance of living in reality rather than getting lost in the virtual world. She explained how loneliness and lack of appreciation in childhood can push children to seek validation online, making them vulnerable to emotional exploitation and scams.
She sensitively highlighted how children who do not receive love and recognition at home may become deeply influenced by small gestures of attention online, affecting their self-image and decision-making. Through the “Aaj Kya Sikha” segment, she emphasized that volunteers must be empowered in every community to solve problems locally. Calling the volunteers “magicians,” she recognized their role in saving lives and transforming futures.
Jyotiraditya, District Coordinator of Sangwari NGO, addressed the issue of sickle cell disease and anemia. He emphasized the role of volunteers in identifying affected individuals and connecting them to necessary support services, strengthening grassroots outreach.
Interactive Workshop: People, Platform & Product
The event concluded with an engaging workshop led by Chandan Kumar, SBC Consultant, UNICEF, based on the framework of People, Platform, and Product. Participants were encouraged to identify who they want to reach, which platform they will use, and what product or solution they will design to address community challenges.
Students shared innovative ideas such as creating “Padhai Ka Kona” spaces, promoting cyber security in fun and engaging formats, conducting home and exposure visits, and using simple, relatable language to communicate with parents and communities.
The program reaffirmed the collective commitment of volunteers, leaders, and UNICEF partners to strengthen parent engagement, promote safe digital practices, and build a resilient, aware, and empowered Jashpur.
