District Raipur: Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Dial 112) Avinash Thakur and the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dial 112) Swati Mishra, an awareness program was organized by the Dial 112 team comprising Sub-Inspector Sindhu Sahu, Head Constable Prem Sagar Gophne, Manish Sahu, Mohsin Qureshi, and Senior Engineer Vinod H. from the technical partner company C-DAC.
The program was conducted at Navin Kanya Mahavidyalaya and Government Higher Secondary Girls School, Gobra Nawapara. The objective was to inform students about emergency services, women and child safety, road accident response, and immediate police assistance. The entire program was organized as per the directions received from the Police Headquarters.
Using audio-visual presentations, DSP Swati Mishra and her team explained to students how to use Dial 112, its mobile application, and the quick response mechanism. Senior Engineer Vinod from C-DAC elaborated on the technical functioning of the Dial 112 service. Sub-Inspector Sindhu Sahu provided detailed information about the Command Centre and the statistics of public assistance rendered so far by Dial 112. The team also skillfully answered the enthusiastic queries of the students—most of whom were previously unaware of Dial 112.
The program received active cooperation from Principal Madhu Srivastava of Navin Kanya Mahavidyalaya and Principal D.K. Dewangan of the Government Higher Secondary Girls School.
An “Awareness Quiz Competition” related to the Dial 112 emergency service was organized among the students, in which participants enthusiastically took part and performed excellently. Students Shweta Mishra, Nandita Verma, Chitralekha Patel, Palak Dewangan, Manisha Sen, Sharda Sahu, and Dulari Dewangan were awarded certificates of appreciation by DSP Swati Mishra.
In their addresses, both principals described the program as highly beneficial for students and emphasized the need for regular awareness initiatives of this nature.
Faculty members from Navin Kanya Mahavidyalaya — Lokmani Yadav, Dr. Saroj Chakradhar, Dr. Priyanka Singh, Dr. Ragini Tiwari, Vikrant Singh Gavaskar, Yogesh Dewangan, Khushboo Kashyap, and Priyanka Sahu — along with teachers from the Government Higher Secondary Girls School — Priyanka Sahu, Khileshwari Diwan, Khushboo Sahu, Monika Thakur, Madhu Dewangan, Amita Tiwari, Anjali Nagwanshi, Kiran Minj, Hemlata Banjare, Seema Sahu, Kusum Dhruv, Nameshwari Sahu, Jeevan Sinha, and Kishan Chandrakar — were present.
A total of 150 college students and 300 school students learned about the complete functioning of the Chhattisgarh Dial 112 emergency service.
Through this initiative, a strong message was conveyed about enhancing safety awareness among youth and building trust in emergency services. The program marked a significant step forward in the field of community policing.
