“A Lifeline at 60: Jan Darshan Brings Ration Card Relief”

Raipur/ The Chief Minister’s Jan Darshan programme under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai continues to emerge as a powerful platform for the swift resolution of public grievances. In a deeply moving instance, the programme brought renewed hope to 60-year-old unmarried labourer Shri Hanumant Rao, whose decades-long wait for a ration card finally came to an end.

During the interaction, Shri Rao shared his ordeal with the Chief Minister, stating that despite being a resident of Tatyapara Ward in Raipur for nearly 60 years, he never had a ration card in his own name. Earlier, his name was included in his parents’ ration card, which enabled him to avail benefits of various government schemes. After the demise of his parents, Shri Rao was left to live alone and, due to the absence of a ration card, was deprived of benefits under the Food Department’s welfare schemes.

Listening to the grievance with deep empathy and personal concern, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai immediately directed the concerned officials to issue a ration card to Shri Rao without delay. The prompt decision brought visible relief and satisfaction to the elderly labourer.

This incident highlighted in Jan Darshan stands as a strong testimony to the government’s commitment under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Sai—where governance is not limited to policy formulation, but is driven by sensitivity, responsiveness and last-mile delivery. For Shri Hanumant Rao, receiving a ration card at the age of 60 is not merely a document, but a restoration of dignity, security and a fresh beginning toward a self-reliant life.
