Important decisions taken in a crucial meeting of the Council of Ministers
Nava Raipur: To provide relief on electricity bills for domestic electricity consumers in the state, the Chief Minister Energy Relief Public Campaign has expanded benefits. Under this, instead of the earlier 100 units, domestic electricity consumers will now receive a 50% rebate on electricity bills for up to 200 units per month. This benefit will also be available to consumers whose consumption goes up to 400 units. The rebate is effective in the state from 1 December 2025.
Consumers who use 200 to 400 units per month will continue to get a 50% rebate for up to 200 units for the next one year so that during this period, they can install solar plants in their homes under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme.
Through the Chief Minister Energy Relief Public Campaign, 42 lakh consumers in the state will benefit. Additionally, all consumers in the state will also benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
It is noteworthy that under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, the state government is providing subsidies—₹15,000 for a 1 kW solar plant and ₹30,000 for a 2 kW or higher capacity plant. This initiative will encourage the adoption of solar energy in the state and, in the long run, will help transition consumers from half-bill electricity to free electricity.
This decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mahanadi Bhawan. Along with granting relief on electricity bills for domestic consumers, several other key decisions were taken:
